The first matchday after the winter break in the Landesliga Niederrhein 3 was a real thriller. 31 goals in five games and a furious leader.
Two and a half months of break lay between the 15th and 16th matchday in the Landesliga Niederrhein 3. And the players showed, they immediately had a real desire for goals again.
31 goals were scored on this match day. Seven alone in the match between leaders Adler Union Frintrop and DV Solingen. The league leaders won 5:2 at the fourth-placed team and maintained their commanding first place. Yannick Reiners, Tommy Groll and Timo Dapprich scored after 45 minutes to give them a comfortable lead at the break.
Dapprich and Reiners increased the lead to 5:0, before Solingen were able to reduce the score to 2:5. The Essen team still only has a one-point lead at the top, as the runners-up, SF Niederwenigern, have also done their homework.
The 4:2 win against VfB Frohnhausen was also a high-scoring affair. Paul Schütte and a brace from Marc-Fabian Rappka set the course early on for a commanding success for the favourites.
SC Velbert, in third place, also remain close to the top two. The team from Bergisch won their match at SpVgg Steele 3:1.
At the bottom of the table, two teams showed signs of life. In a complete surprise, the previous bottom team, 1. FC Wülfrath, won 3:2 against FC Remscheid. Kouadia-Wilfrid Taki was the man of the day with his two goals.
With nine points, Wülfrath has a little hope again. TuSEM Essen has a little more hope. The team beat ESC Rellinghausen 2-1 in the derby and has drawn level on points with Frohnhausen.
BW Mintard already beat SC Germania Reusrath 3-1 on Saturday, but with eight points separating them from first place, promotion should no longer be an issue for the Mintards.
