After a trial session—a decision appears to have been made regarding former Bochum player Ordets

When it comes to center back, former Bochum player Ivan Ordets recently held talks with league rival Arminia Bielefeld.

Ivan Ordets recently took a close look at the situation at Arminia Bielefeld. The second-division club put the 33-year-old center back through a trial during team training. “I’d like to continue playing in the Bundesliga,” Ordets said back in the summer, but it seems he may have overestimated his chances.

And it appears there is no future for the Ukrainian in Bielefeld either. This is now being reported by “kicker.” According to the report, DSC officials do not see the center back as the defensive reinforcement they had hoped for.

Since Ordets’ contract with VfL Bochum expired last summer, the center back would have been available on a free transfer. So now he’ll have to keep looking elsewhere.

Ordets began his professional career at the historic club Shakhtar Donetsk, where he was initially loaned out several times to the Ukrainian club Illichivets Mariupol to gain playing experience in the top Ukrainian league.

In March 2013, he made his debut in the Ukrainian Premjer-Liha. After several loan spells, Ordets became a regular member of the Shakhtar squad starting in the 2014–15 season and won the Ukrainian championship three times in a row with the club from 2017 to 2019. He also won three cup titles (2015–16, 2016–17, 2017–18) and the 2017 Ukrainian Super Cup.

In 2018–19, however, he had to undergo surgery on his Achilles tendon. In the 2019–20 season, he moved to Dynamo Moscow in Russia. In 2022, Ordets then transferred to VfL Bochum, a team that had been promoted to the German Bundesliga.

There, he became a key player in the defense. By the time of his departure last summer, Ordets had played in 82 competitive matches, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

Internationally, Ivan Ordets progressed through the Ukrainian youth national teams and made his senior national team debut in 2014, scoring his first international goal in a friendly against Niger. He has made twelve appearances for his country to date.
