Bayern Munich are once again top of the Bundesliga. After their 4-2 win over Borussia Dortmund, Bayern hold all the aces with eight games to go.
After FC Bayern München’s clear 4:2 victory over Borussia Dortmund, the German record champions are once again top of the Bundesliga. As so often in recent years, BVB failed to make it in Munich.
Instead, with eight matchdays to go before the end of the season, the Munich team has once again put itself in the best possible position in the race for the championship. But even for Borussia, with only two points behind Bayern, the season is far from over.
However, Dortmund must now hope for a slip-up from Munich. And in doing so, they will have to keep up their outstanding form until the Bayern game, game after game, until the end of the season.
Outsiders Union Berlin are only four points behind the leaders, but have shown inconsistent performances recently. The Eisern are unlikely to have any serious chances of winning the title.
The starting position
Bayern Munich lead the table with 55 points and a much better goal difference (+47), with Dortmund (53/+22) two points behind. Union Berlin (51/+13), third in the standings, are not without their chances either.
The remaining programmes
The next top match for Dortmund is already coming up next weekend: On Saturday (8 April, 15:30), Union Berlin will be the guests at Signal-Iduna-Park for a chasing duel, with second place at stake for BVB in the event of a defeat.
While Bayern will face the supposedly easier tasks in the remainder of the season, the record champions will have (at least) two difficult duels with Manchester City in the Champions League.
