SV Straelen must reorganize itself after its withdrawal from the Oberliga This will probably not happen in the Landesliga.
SV Straelen has withdrawn from the Oberliga Niederrhein and has been the first team to be relegated since the winter break. This actually means that SVS could continue in the Landesliga Niederrhein.
But that doesn’t seem to be an option for the former regional league club at the moment. Jens Jütten, coach of the Straelen reserve team, emphasized to FuPa: “SV Straelen will definitely make a fresh start next season – whether in the Kreisliga A or the Bezirksliga.”
Not a word about the national league at the club, which has to completely reinvent itself after the retirement of Hermann Tecklenburg, club boss and patron. Former coach Sunay Acar spoke of the “bitterest defeat” of his sporting career after the withdrawal.
“Of course I know that soccer is fast-moving. It will continue. But it’s clear that the players are also devastated. The fact that the season has ended like this is extremely painful for all of us and just hurts.”
And now the club, which won the Lower Rhine Cup in the final against Wuppertaler SV in front of over 6,000 spectators in 2022, will drop at least two more leagues. It then experienced a furious DFB Cup match against FC St. Pauli – and only narrowly lost 4:3.
In future, the new first team’s opponents will be Viktoria Goch, TUS Xanten or Tus Asterlagen. SV Straelen’s second team is currently still playing against them. However, with little success, because with only eight points, the Straeleners are nine points behind the first non-relegation place.
It looks as though the SVS reserves will be relegated to the Kreisliga A, which would complete the club’s pandemic season. It will be interesting to see where and how the club reorganizes itself in the summer
