One more step, and a general membership meeting can finally take place

For months, KFC Uerdingen has been planning an extraordinary general membership meeting to remove the current board of directors. Now the path forward is clear.

At KFC Uerdingen, the past still hasn’t been fully put to rest. Insolvency proceedings are still ongoing, and the club still has the peculiar structure where Thomas Platzer and his colleagues are officially on the board but no longer have any say.

This is because the insolvency administrator, Thomas Ellrich, had already determined months ago that the “Friends and Supporters” (FuF) model was, in his view, better suited to leading the club into the future.

Now the FuF, in collaboration with Ellrich, is handling day-to-day operations, though they do not yet have official legitimacy. This is because efforts to convene an extraordinary general meeting have been unsuccessful for months.

Platzer and his associates have no interest in this, so the three KFC members Christoph Epping, Jörg Gredig, and Udo van Koll set out to collect signatures in order to convene an extraordinary general meeting at which the FuF would be officially elected to office.

The Krefeld Local Court recognized the trio’s petition, but an appeal was filed again; on October 22, 2025, the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court ruled that the Local Court had erred.

Therefore, this step must now be repeated. In a letter, Epping, Gredig, and van Koll announced: “Dear fellow advocates for a bright future for KFC, after we received the decision of the Krefeld Local Court on August 5, 2025, regarding our petition dated June 5, 2025, the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court announced its ruling on October 22, 2025. Unfortunately, the Krefeld Local Court’s ruling was found to be flawed on one point. Therefore, we must once again ask for your support. We must take one final step to ensure that our club has a leadership that is democratically supported by its members.”

The trio added: “The members’ petition was successful. The board would be obligated to issue the invitations itself. Since it continues to refuse, the Krefeld Local Court must be authorized to issue invitations on behalf of the members. According to the Higher Regional Court’s ruling, an additional form must be submitted to the Local Court by those members who had already requested that the board issue invitations. With this form, you confirm that you agree to have the Krefeld Local Court contacted on your behalf as well. For legal reasons, those who did not sign in May are unfortunately unable to participate at this time.

Here’s what happens next: Anyone who already signed in May can sign the form on Friday, October 31, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the wholesale market cafeteria. Alternatively, the form can be downloaded here, filled out, scanned, and sent to [email protected]. It can also be handed in, already filled out, at the wholesale market cafeteria.

As soon as there are enough signatures, the trio will request permission from the Krefeld Local Court to convene an extraordinary general meeting.

The meeting should include the following agenda items: Item 1: Report on the status of KFC by the insolvency administrator

Item 2: Presentation of proposals by potential parties (specifically regarding financing, training operations, youth programs, and proposed personnel; maximum of 15 minutes per party)

Item 3: Vote on the following motion: The extraordinary general meeting recommends that the Board of Directors dismiss the entire current executive board with immediate effect.

Should Agenda Item 3 pass and the current executive board be dismissed, the FuF could receive official authorization from the members to lead the KFC.
