Argentina defeat Mexico 2-0, France cheer a 2-1 win over Denmark

France have become the first nation to qualify for the last 16 of the World Cup in Qatar. Paris Saint-Germain striker Mbappé drew level with Zinedine Zidane in the French national team’s scoring charts with a brace in the win over Denmark on day two of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

It was a day of emotion for Australia, who beat Tunisia 1-0 on Saturday for their third win in 18 games. Duke put Australia ahead with a header midway through the first half. Australia had not won at a World Cup since beating Serbia in 2010.

France top Group D with six points after beating Denmark 2-1 in the other group match on Saturday. Australia follow with three points, while Denmark and Tunisia trail with one point each.

Argentina beat Mexico 2-0 in Group C with goals from Lionel Messi and Enzo Fernandez. The “Gauchos” thus remain in the race towards the last 16 after the opening defeat against Saudi Arabia.

Robert Lewandowski, with an assist and a goal, and goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, who saved a Salem Al-Dawsari penalty just before half-time, helped Poland to an important 2-0 win in their second Group C match, which ended the Saudi Arabian side’s run of form after beating Argentina.
