Sportfreunde Siegen are once again bringing in a player from the Regionalliga West with their new center forward. He even brings third division experience with him.
Sportfreunde Siegen have secured the services of Cagatay Kader. After Florian Mayer (1. FC Bocholt), this is the club’s second new signing from the Regionalliga West.
The 27-year-old Kader last played as a striker for Borussia Mönchengladbach’s U23s. He made 28 appearances there in the pre-season, but was mostly a substitute. The attacker scored two goals and made one assist and started nine matches.
Following the signing, Siegen head coach Thorsten Nehrbauer said: “We are very happy that Cagatay is joining us. He is an absolute asset to the team. In him, we have found the central striker we wanted. Kader is an elementary component of our objectives and the further development of the team. It’s a win-win situation for both sides, we’ll do each other good.”
Kader has already gained experience in the 3rd division for FSV Frankfurt (32 games, 6 goals) and VfR Aalen (5 games, one goal), while in the Regionalliga West the striker has made 143 appearances (40 goals) for VfB Homberg, SV Straelen, Gladbach II and the VfL Bochum reserves. The attacker was trained in the youth teams of Fortuna Düsseldorf, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Schalke 04, Rot-Weiss Essen and VfL Bochum.
The new signing is now looking forward to his new role in the Siegerland. “In Siegen, everything is just right,” says the Düsseldorf native, “from the infrastructure to the team to the club itself. The club can achieve great things, and I want to help with that. We have a strong squad and a very good coach, so we want to play at the top with the squad.”
In the top division, the aim is to score more often again personally. Squad: “Strikers prefer to score lots of goals, so the aim is of course to help the team with a few goals in the best case scenario. “
