Sportfreunde Baumberg have signed a player from the U23 reserve team of Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach
Strengthening for the reigning champions of the Oberliga Niederrhein: Sportfreunde Baumberg have signed the versatile Cem Dag from Borussia Mönchengladbach’s U23s.
The 21-year-old left-footer, who can play in all wing-back positions both defensively and offensively, has only made a total of four regional league appearances for Mönchengladbach. In Monheim-Baumberg, he should now get much more of a chance.
Baumberg’s head coach Salah El Halimi says: “We are very happy to welcome Cem to our team. His ability to play both defense and offense on the wing gives us additional flexibility and depth in the squad. Cem is an extremely talented player who will strengthen our team in many areas. His left foot, pace and precise crossing as well as his defensive qualities will help us enormously. “
The master coach added: “He hasn’t played much in the last two years, but we want him to regain his old strength, gain match practice and take another two steps forward in his development. I’m looking forward to seeing him on the pitch and I’m convinced that he will play a good role in our game.”
Dag is only the third player to join Sportfreunde after Robin Schnadt (1. FC Monheim) and Marvin Oberhoff (TSV Meerbusch).
Meanwhile, Koray Kacinoglu (FC Pesch), Mehmet Zeki Tunc (DV Solingen), Sebastian Papalia (FC Hürth), Subaru Nishimura (Wuppertaler SV), Melva Luzalunga (TuRU Düsseldorf), Isaac Kang, Tetsuya Takahashi, Yannik Radojewski, Ken Tcouangue, Leonard Bajraktari (all destination unknown) and Kosi Saka (career end) have all left Baumberg.
As a reminder: Last season, Sportfreunde Baumberg were champions of the Oberliga Niederrhein, but voluntarily relinquished their place in the Regionalliga West for infrastructural reasons. Third-placed KFC Uerdingen benefited from this, as second-placed SV Schonnebeck, like Baumberg, did not exercise their right to promotion
