Fabian Klos, 38, once captain of DSC Arminia Bielefeld, is now a “MagentaSport” analyst. Earlier this week, he was also one of the guests on the “XXL edition of the 100th ‘MagentaSport Podcast 4zu3.’”
The former forward had some strong words about Ryan Naderi’s record-breaking third-division transfer. As is well known, the 22-year-old transferred to Glasgow Rangers for the staggering third-division transfer fee of 5.5 million euros—plus bonuses!
The high transfer fee shocked “MagentaSport” expert Fabian Klos: “No third-division player in Germany is worth 5.5 million. That’s really concerning.”
Rostock, coming off a 0–3 loss to Ingolstadt and set to visit Hoffenheim on Sunday (February 8, 1:30 p.m.), sits in sixth place with promotion aspirations but has suffered an additional setback with the loss of a key player. “From a purely sporting perspective, Hansa Rostock is putting a lot on the line with this move,” says Klos.
I can’t tip my hat enough to the progress the entire club has made. All the teams that come after them are awesome, traditional clubs that will be a great addition to the 2nd Division next season.
Fabian Klos on SC Verl
The expert sees the current league leader, Cottbus, as the favorite for promotion: “They have the crazy Pele Wollitz on the sidelines and, in Tolcay Cigerci, the best player in this league.”
Verl is also a Klos favorite: “I can’t tip my hat enough to the progress the entire club has made. All the teams that follow are fantastic, historic clubs that will be a great addition to the 2nd Division next season.”
Unlike in Rostock, Cottbus, or Verl, the situation is different for FC Erzgebirge Aue, currently in 17th place and facing relegation. Former RWE coach Christoph Dabrowski has now taken over there.
Klos said: “They need someone now who speaks differently, handles the players differently, and really cracks down on them. There’s been absolutely no progress over the past twelve months. None whatsoever! Neither in the standings, nor in points earned, nor in terms of play.”
Dabrowski will take the helm as early as Saturday’s crucial match (2 p.m.) against 1. FC Saarbrücken. Klos will also be watching this match with interest.
