Dabrowski on Berlinski – “Ron sometimes makes three more ways than one too few”.

Rot-Weiss Essen has long since arrived in the 3rd division and has gained a lead over the relegation places. What RWE does not have, however, is a goal scorer in the squad.

With six goals, Felix Bastians is Rot-Weiss Essen’s top scorer. The head of defence can be relied on in important moments.

But actually the strikers would be responsible for that. Simon Engelmann has four goals and four assists in 16 appearances. A good record, since Engelmann has had to miss a few games this season due to health problems.

Ron Berlinski is one of the players who is almost always there and can start. With the number nine on his back, he is actually the man who should be responsible for the RWE goals. But the combative striker has a hard time with that. 22 games, five goals, two assists. Berlinski’s last goal dates from 6 November 2022, in a 5:3 win in Oldenburg.

In the fan environment, Berlinski is not only celebrated for his great commitment and passion. There are also critical voices that say he does, makes and runs, but what is it all for?

Ron sometimes makes three more runs than one too few. But there are also players who make two ways less. But they are then fully there in the decisive situation. You have to find a middle ground.

Christoph Dabrowski

Christoph Dabrowski gives the answer: “Ron is always there for the team. He approaches everything with a high level of intensity. You can never fault the lad on that. Basically, he needs to prepare his finish better. But I would like to see more precision and presence in some areas. He can still improve in ball handling, but also in the air.”

And goal scoring? The Bochum native doesn’t seem to have invented that. “He needs more composure, the inner calm in certain situations. I keep telling him that he has to stay cool,” stresses the RWE coach.

And Dabrowski adds: “Ron sometimes makes three more ways than one too few. But there are also players who make two ways less. But they are then fully there in the decisive situation. You have to find a middle ground.”

The 28-year-old attacker Berlinski will have his next chance to find this on Sunday at 1 p.m., when SpVgg Bayreuth visit the Hafenstraße stadium.
