Damper for Wattenscheid – ASC 09 Dortmund jumps to the top

The Oberliga Westfalen has a new leader after the 10th matchday. But the top teams remain close together.

The unpleasant games in autumn are slowly beginning, when it rains and the temperatures slowly drop. The 10th match day in the Oberliga Westfalen was also held under these conditions. A few wins provided some warmth.

Above all, probably at ASC 09 Dortmund, who were able to prevail against Concordia Wiemelhausen with 4:0 (3:0). Maximilian Podehl scored a hat-trick. Even more important, however, is that the victory and the better goal difference have taken the Aplerbecker to the top of the table.

They are now followed by 1. FC Gievenbeck, who won 1-0 at SV Lippstadt, who were relegated from the regional league, and are now ahead of VfL Bochum II.

The second Bochum team in action this Sunday also came away empty-handed. SG Wattenscheid 09 lost 3:4 (1:1) to SV Schermbeck, who are managed by former Bochum player Engin Yavuzaslan. This was their first defeat after two wins and two draws in a row.

Joey Gabriel had put Wattenscheid in the lead (10th minute) before SVS was able to take better advantage of its chances. An own goal (82nd minute) and a converted penalty deep into injury time (103rd minute) gave SGW hope again. But in the end, Schermbeck celebrated.

The long stoppage time was due to a brawl among the spectators and a longer injury break afterwards. You can read the live ticker from the RS here.

SC Preußen Münster II are also in scoring form. After the second team of the second division club had already scored eight goals in one half against TuS Bövinghausen last weekend before the game was abandoned, they now scored a total of three against Victoria Clarholz. Once again, Luca Steinfeldt paved the way for the 3-0 win with a brace.

Sportfreunde Siegen drew 1-1 with TuS Ennepetal, while Eintracht Rheine kept the guests in the bottom half of the table with a 1-0 win against SpVgg Vreden.

The matchday was concluded by SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl and SC Verl II. The guests scored in the 94th minute to win 2-1.

There was already a big surprise on Friday evening. TuS Bövinghausen were able to celebrate a victory after last weekend’s abandoned game. The team from Dortmund beat SpVgg Erkenschwick 3-1 to claim their first win of the season.

The matchday will be concluded on Tuesday (October 15, 8 p.m.) by Rot Weiss Ahlen and Westfalia Rhynern. The game had been postponed due to the U20 international match in Ahlen.
