17th matchday of the Regionalliga West. Fortuna Düsseldorf II crowns a furious comeback against Cologne II. Aachen beats Velbert, Lippstadt and Wiedenbrück share the points.
On the 17th matchday of the Regionalliga West, the second team of Fortuna Düsseldorf turned a 0-2 deficit against 1. FC Köln II into a 3-2 victory!
Florian Dietz (14th minute) and Justin Diehl (31st minute) put the Geißböcke on the road to victory early on. At least that’s what it seemed like. But Düsseldorf, in the person of Nicolas Hirschberger, responded shortly after the restart (51st minute) and went on a dramatic comeback. Within two minutes, the hosts scored two goals: Deniz-Fabian Bindemann first made it 2:2 (81st minute), before Mechak Quiala-Tito even scored the 3:2 (83rd minute). The final score!
Fortuna Düsseldorf II collect three important points and a lot of momentum in the relegation battle with their comeback win, climbing to 15th place. The FC U21, on the other hand, miss the opportunity to keep up with leaders 1. FC Bocholt – the gap remains five points, with one more game played.
SSVg Velbert – Alemannia Aachen 0:1 (0:1)
Alemannia Aachen celebrated a 1-0 (1-0) away win at SSVg Velbert on Friday evening in the pouring rain and in the smoke of the burning guest block.
The Kaiserstädter took the lead after 19 minutes. Dustin Wilms didn’t hit the ball properly in the box, but with a lot of luck it went over the line to make it 1-0 at half-time in a scrappy game.
The home side showed a much-improved performance after the break, but still didn’t create enough chances to pose a threat to Aachen.
The score remained 0-1, which means that Alemannia climbs to third place – four points behind Bocholt. Velbert, on the other hand, will finish the 17th match day in last place.
SV Lippstadt – SC Wiedenbrück 1:1 (1:0)
In the last game of the evening, SC Wiedenbrück saved a 1-1 draw in extra time away at SV Lippstadt 08.
Viktor Maier had put the hosts in front with a penalty (31st minute). For a long time, it looked like three very important points in the relegation battle, until Ben Hüning saved a point for the guests in the second minute of extra time.
SC Wiedenbrück thus maintains a four-point lead over Lippstadt, but the gap to the first safe non-relegation spot has been reduced to one point due to Düsseldorf’s victory.
