District league side Vogelheimer SV conceded a last-minute defeat at second-placed SV Genc Osman Duisburg. Christian Mikolajczak was unhappy – but not with the game.
Vogelheimer SV were guests at top team SV Genc Osman Duisburg last matchday. After a weak first 20 minutes and a deserved 0:1 deficit, the Essen district league team showed a strong reaction and pushed for an equalizer – which Naoufal Nouri then scored in the 87th minute.
Nevertheless, the final whistle blew to leave a bitter 2-1 defeat. The winning goal for the home side only came in the 90th minute. So not much was missing for a respectable win.
“We played too passively in the first 20 minutes and didn’t have enough courage in possession. What we played in the second half, on the other hand, was sensational. Genc Osman had no ideas at all and could hardly provide any relief. I can only blame my team for not taking our chances. Overall, a draw would have been fair,” summed up Vogelheim’s head coach Christian Mikolajczak.
However, the former professional (Schalke 04, Hannover 96 and LR Ahlen, among others) was more annoyed about the referee’s performance than the defeat. The 42-year-old went into a rage and explained: “What the referees are now doing is absolutely cheeky! He didn’t have this game under control at all and then you shouldn’t be surprised why you might only be refereeing in the district league. Some of the decisions were really unbelievable. That’s when you should question yourself. “
The most outrageous thing for me is a referee talking to a Turkish team in Turkish. I really can’t think of anything else to say. Hats off to the association. It has nothing to do with the defeat, but what the referee did was outrageous.

Mikolajczak continued: “The biggest impertinence for me is that a referee talks to a Turkish team in Turkish. I really can’t think of anything else to say. Hats off to the association. It has nothing to do with the defeat, but what the referee did was outrageous. “
