From a relegated Regionalliga West club to Turkey’s second-highest division: this is the path taken by a player who was last under contract at Ahlen
Burak Camoglu has found a new club: The former Borussia Dortmund talent is moving to Sanliurfaspor in the Turkish soccer dugout.
Born in Kamen, the 27-year-old spent last season with Rot Weiss Ahlen. The right-back made 20 appearances for the Wersestadt side, who were relegated to the Oberliga Westfalen at the end of the season.
Before Camoglu joined Ahlen in August 2023, he was under contract with Adanaspor in Turkey until March 2023 and previously played for Hatayspor.
Before moving to Turkey, the Kamen native spent four years at Borussia Dortmund II and three seasons at Karlsruher SC. Camoglu played a total of 14 games in the Bundesliga 2, 54 games in the Bundesliga 3, 57 matches in the Regionalliga and also made 20 appearances in the Süper Lig.
Selim Gündüz is currently looking around in the regional and top leagues
Selim Gündüz has also been in contact with Sanliurfaspor in recent days. However, this transfer will not happen. “They told me that I should come to training. That wouldn’t have been a problem, but they didn’t want to be more specific. So of course I’m not going to make the journey. I’m currently looking around the regional and top leagues in Germany,” the former VfL Bochum professional told Forecasting.
Gündüz made a total of 38 appearances for the former U23 team and 53 games for the Bochum professionals. The 30-year-old winger had actually hoped for a return to VfL this summer – in the new U23 team. However, after Patrick Fabian, who had been in contact with Gündüz, left the club, these plans came to nothing.
A move to Türkspor Dortmund did not work out either. Most recently, the former second division player and VfL crowd favorite kept himself fit at FC Gießen – Forecasting reported. “There was never any thought of a transfer. I just have to keep looking,” says Gündüz, who currently lives in Bochum.
