A fan alliance of MSV Duisburg wants to increase the Zebras’ player budget with the help of a sponsor group. Donations are being collected for this purpose.
MSV Duisburg finished the current third league season in twelfth place. In the future, the Zebras want to climb higher again – after all, they had set the goal of returning to the 2nd Bundesliga by 2025.
However, large financial leaps are not possible. Currently, the Revierklub has to improve the licence documents for the coming season, possible contract extensions and further new arrivals after the US talent Santiago Castaneda, who was already signed at the beginning of the year, are still a long time coming.
To give sporting director Ralf Heskamp additional leeway, the fan alliance “Running for MSV” has come up with something. It is collecting donations for a higher player budget for the Duisburg professional team. “Make three out of one” is the motto of the campaign.
The plan behind it: Fans can transfer any amount to the club’s account. With the help of a group of sponsors around the company Hargreaves raw material services GmbH, the sum is then to be tripled. The sponsors’ budget is 100,000 euros. So a maximum of 150,000 euros could be raised.
“MSV has to attack the top again, every season in the 3rd league massively harms our MSV. That’s exactly why we want to increase the player budget of the professional team – to improve the chances of playing at the top,” explained the fan alliance on its social media channels.
The initiators did not specify a time frame for the campaign. In addition, they pointed out that no donation receipt can be issued because it is not a charitable campaign.
In the past, “Laufen für den MSV” had already collected money for the benefit of the club in various contexts. Anyone who would like to find out more about the current campaign or even participate in it can find more details on the Facebook page.
