After weeks of uncertainty, it is now clear where Türkspor Dortmund, promoted to the Regionalliga West, will play its home games
Bocholt, Ahlen, Lippstadt or Velbert? These venues were considered for Türkspor Dortmund’s home matches. A few days ago, Forecasting reported that everything points to Velbert
This has now been officially confirmed. Türkspor Dortmund will play its home matches in the IMS Arena, where the Georgian national team recently held its training sessions – until the Ischeland Stadium in Hagen is completed or renovated to the point where it is approved for the regional league.
“In Hagen, the tartan track and the stands are being renovated. This should actually have been done several years ago and now the funding has probably been granted. We have already invested money in the stadium ourselves and had a 35-meter fence erected. The contact with the city of Velbert came about through Oliver Kuhn, the chairman of the SSVg. I spoke to him on the phone and I’m grateful,” Gökhan Aksoy, second chairman of Türkspor, told WAZ.
According to forecasting information, Türkspor will be allowed to pay a sum of around 15,000 euros per home game to the city of Velbert. The city will then transfer part of the amount to the Velbert sports and games association. “That’s all a matter for the city. I don’t comment on any figures,” SSVg boss Kuhn emphasized to Forecasting.
Oberliga clubs decided not to enter the regional league – also and especially because of the stadium issue
Many teams, such as the Oberliga Niederrhein clubs Baumberg and Schonnebeck, voluntarily decided not to enter the Regionalliga. The reason: the lack of infrastructure and the high costs of possible reconstruction measures.
Eintracht Hohkeppel and Türkspor took the chance of promotion. However, both clubs will have to be strangers. There will be no real home games for either the Mittelrheinliga champions or the Oberliga Westfalen runners-up. Hohkeppel will play their home games in Düren, over 80 kilometers away, in the stadium of league rivals 1. FC.
Türkspor will probably use the SSVg Velbert arena before the Ischelandstadion in Hagen is available from September 2024. At least the other two promoted teams, Lotte and Uerdingen, will be allowed to play in their own stadiums
