Nine match days left in the 3rd Division. Almost half of the teams still have to look down.
From eleventh place onwards, all teams in the 3rd Division theoretically have to look down. Especially after a weekend where the bottom teams were able to score a lot of points.
Although MSV Duisburg no longer sees itself in the relegation battle, the Zebras are hardly showing any consistency, so a cushion of eight points is not enough. New in the relegation battle: FC Ingolstadt, who after a series of defeats now have to look downwards instead of towards the 2nd Bundesliga.
Rot-Weiss Essen now have three more games to play: Freiburg II, Dynamo Dresden and Waldhof Mannheim. After that, it’s only against teams from the bottom or teams like 1860 Munich, for whom nothing is at stake.
And BVB II also have a remaining programme that gives them hope of staying in the league. There are still enough direct duels in which Borussia Dortmund’s U23 can settle the matter itself.
The remaining schedule is particularly tight on paper for Halle, VfB Oldenburg, FSV Zwickau and Meppen.
