SV Rödinghausen is getting a late start to the new competitive season. The match in Lotte has been canceled. However, a new player has joined the team.
SV Rödinghausen has signed Davis Asante on loan from Jahn Regensburg through the end of the season. The 22-year-old is versatile on offense and has appeared in seven 3rd League matches so far this season.
Asante transferred from Werder Bremen to Regensburg this summer, where he has a contract through 2027. The former U-national team player will wear jersey number 23 for SVR.
“We’re very happy to gain more options for our offense with Davis. He can play both on the wings and up front, and he’s very fast and strong in one-on-one situations,” said SVR head coach Lars Fleischer about the transfer.
The 2025–2026 Regionalliga West season was actually supposed to resume the following weekend with nine matches. But that won’t be happening.
Two matches have already been canceled. “The home game between Sportfreunde Lotte and SV Rödinghausen, scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., must be canceled due to weather conditions. The current condition of the field—taking into account the weather conditions of the past few days—means our natural-grass field is unplayable at this time. For this reason, we unfortunately had no choice but to cancel the match,” according to a press release from Sportfreunde Lotte.
Previously, the match between Sportfreunde Siegen and the reserve team of Champions League participant Borussia Dortmund had already been canceled.
“Due to the persistent sub-zero temperatures over the past few nights, the field at Leimbachstadion is unplayable. The city of Siegen officially closed the field on Thursday morning and declared it unplayable. Under these conditions, it is not possible to play the match. Sportfreunde Siegen deeply regrets the cancellation and the resulting inconvenience for spectators, guests, and everyone involved. The club will announce a rescheduled date as soon as it has been set by the league,” the Siegen-based club stated.
