Striker Elmin Heric is a pillar in the offensive of TuS Bövinghausen. This is proven by six goals in the first five games of the season. His hunger for goals is far from satisfied.
It didn’t take long for the bell to ring in the Oberliga Westfalen for the first time: After attacker Elmin Heric played a major role in TuS Bövinghausen’s promotion last season with numerous goals, he is not stopping in the higher competition.
Starting problems or a period of acclimatisation? There is no sign of that. The Bosnian was successful in front of the opponent’s goal six times in the first four games and continues to ride the wave of success with his team. “You always hope that the knot will burst right at the start of the season. But I wouldn’t have thought that it would go like this either. That makes me all the more pleased,” Heric told us.
High esteem from coach Tyrala
Lately the celebrated matchwinner when he scored a hat-trick to win at SV Schermbeck, Heric could not put the leather in the net against SC Paderborn II, despite good chances. The attacking player was quick to put the evening behind him: “As a striker, there are days when you have the best chances on your feet, but the ball just won’t go in. I had one of those days against Paderborn. I’m annoyed about the missed penalty. In the end, I can count myself lucky that “Morre” (Maurice Rene Haar, editor’s note) shot the ball in to equalise 1-1. “
The 21-year-old continues to show confidence and revealed that he is aiming high this season: “I have made up my mind that the number of goals I score will definitely have a two in front at the end. That means 20 goals or more.” Not at all unrealistic, if Bövinghausen coach Sebastian Tyrala has his way. Heric is “one of the best strikers in the Oberliga”, the coach dares to predict. The ex-professional has a high regard for his protégé: “Elmin is an outstanding player. He has everything you need up front. The only thing we can still work on is his heading. For his age, he’s already brutally advanced and definitely destined for higher things if he can call up his performance week after week. “
Objective: To stay in the league – everything else is a bonus
Bövinghausen has undoubtedly arrived in the top division. Heric sees the differences to the Westfalenliga “in the toughness and speed of the tackling”, the difference in quality is “clearly noticeable”. Despite the sustained highs, however, the club from the west of Dortmund remains grounded in reality. For the goal scorer, the most important thing is to stay in the league: “We started the season as a promoted team. It was clear to us that we didn’t want to have anything to do with relegation. The further up we go, the more pleasing it is. “
