The TVD Velbert has a new coaching team. Jens Grembowietz and his assistant Markus Braasch had to resign after the recent negative spell.
The last matchday also brought no improvement for TVD Velbert. Jens Grembowietz’s team lost 3-0 against SC Union Nettetal. It was to be his last game. On Monday, April 29, the Velbert team announced the departure of Grembowietz and assistant Markus Braasch.
“Training, match preparation and commitment were always really outstanding, but unfortunately we slipped further and further into the relegation battle. While we were still in fourth place in the first half of the season with an average of 1.7 points, we only managed 0.45 points in the second half of the season and scored 5 out of a possible 33 points,” said the Oberliga club in a statement explaining the reasons for the change of coach.
And continued: “We also know that we have had and still only have a small squad due to injuries, illnesses and suspensions. We have also always given the coaching team great support and worked closely together, especially in recent weeks, but in the end we came to the decision after the 0:3 at home against Union Nettetal that we had to set new incentives in the final spurt. we would like to thank Jens and Markus for their great commitment and wish them all the best for the future.”
The successor duo has already been chosen. Dimitros Pappas and Hakan Yalcinkaya will take over until the end of the current season. Pappas most recently coached the regional league club SSVg Velbert and was previously employed by the women’s team at VfL Bochum and Rot-Weiß Oberhausen
Yalcinkaya has coached Blau-Weiß Mintard, SSVg Heiligenhaus and the U19 teams of ETB Schwarz-Weiß Essen and SSVg Velbert, among others.
“Both know TVD Velbert and are also familiar with the Oberliga Niederrhein, which is also important. The first training session with the team took place on Monday,” concluded TVD Velbert.
The first game under new management will then take place on Wednesday, May 1, 3 p.m., at SV Sonsbeck.
