Second division football club Karlsruher SC has parted company with its managing director of sport.
After an extensive analysis and irrespective of the current sporting situation, the advisory board of Karlsruher SC has decided by majority vote on a strategic reorientation in the sporting area. As part of this, Oliver Kreuzer, who had been in office since 1 December 2016 and has a contract until 30 June 2025, was dismissed as Managing Director Sport with immediate effect.
In the analysis of the sports field of action, it was determined that lasting economic stability of KSC as a company will only be possible in the future if the achievement of sporting goals also generates the corresponding revenues directly influenced by sport.
Essentially, this involves the collection of TV money and transfer income. In both areas of income, KSC has been far below the average of the 2nd Bundesliga for a long time.
The goal of the strategic reorientation is to focus the staffing in the sports area on permanently increasing the value of the squad and the likelihood of sporting success. As a result, the urgently needed additional income from TV money and transfer revenue is to be generated and sporting goals achieved.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Oliver Kreuzer for his work as managing director. Based on the extensive analyses of the last few months, we have decided on a strategic realignment of the sporting area in order to also be successful in this field of action, both in sporting terms, but especially also economically,” said Holger Siegmund-Schultze, Chairman of the Advisory Board of KSC GmbH & Co. KGaA.
An orderly process has already been started in order to implement the staffing of the Sports Division as quickly as possible.
