Two decisions were still on the agenda in the Oberliga Westfalen on the final matchday. The question of champions and relegation has now been settled.
Another season in the Oberliga Westfalen is history. Two decisions were still to be made on the final matchday. Sportfreunde Lotte and Türkspor Dortmund, both promoted to the regional league, fought a long-distance duel for the championship. At the bottom of the table, Eintracht Rheine and FC Brünninghausen were still fighting to stay in the league.
Sportfreunde Lotte did not allow their better starting position at the top of the table to be taken away from them. They completed their task against TuS Ennepetal with a commanding 4-0 victory, crowning their season with a final home win and the championship in front of their own fans.
Türkspor Dortmund should still be happy despite missing out on the title. They also won their last game in the Oberliga for the time being. They recorded a 3:0 victory at SpVgg Erkenschwick.
For a while, it looked as if FC Brünninghausen would still be able to jump above the line and stay in the league. However, they let a 1-0 lead against SG Finnentrop/Bamenohl slip away. The final score was 1:4, sealing relegation after a year in the Oberliga.
This was particularly bitter as Eintracht Rheine lost 1-0 at Sportfreunde Siegen. The remaining games were dominated by farewells. First and foremost that of Felix Casalino. He will leave SG Wattenscheid 09 at the end of the season. And as is only fitting, he also scored a goal in his last home game at the Lohrheide. SGW still lost 3:1 against 1. FC Gievenbeck.
TSG Sprockhövel also bowed out of the Oberliga with their heads held high. The club, which had already been relegated before the matchday, led 4:0 against Victoria Clarholz at half-time and added another goal in the second 45 minutes: 5:0.
ASC 09 Dortmund defended third place on the final matchday with a 2-0 win against SpVgg Vreden. There was no chance of moving up or down anyway.
The season had already ended for four teams on Thursday. TuS Bövinghausen lost their last home game 3-1 against SV Schermbeck.
Westfalia Rhynern won 2:0 at SC Preußen Münster II
