Dynamo Dresden needs to make moves this winter. It’s not just the team’s position in the standings that makes this necessary. And lo and behold: two players are said to be all but signed.
In early November, Thomas Brendel had to step down as managing director of Dynamo Dresden. After roughly six weeks, a successor is now in the starting blocks.
According to “Bild,” that person is Sören Gonther. The former pro is currently still working at Hessen Kassel, where he has previously prevented relegation. So exactly what his role in Dresden will entail.
And it’s not just sports director Gonther who is expected to join. The paper further reports that Jason Ceka is also set to arrive in Saxony on loan. The Essen native is currently still under contract with league rival SV Elversberg.
However, the right winger has barely seen any playing time there since his summer move from Magdeburg in 2025. Seven games, 65 minutes—that’s not what Ceka is looking for. A loan until the end of the season, though without a buy option as suggested by “Bild,” seems like a sensible move.

Ceka would bring the experience of 51 second-division appearances to Dynamo Dresden. After his early youth career at VfB Frohnhausen, the attacking player was trained at Rot-Weiss Essen and FC Schalke 04 starting in 2005.
In Gelsenkirchen, he gained his first experience at the senior level through appearances with the reserve team. During the 2020–2021 season, he impressed with 15 goal contributions (12 goals, 3 assists) in 25 Regionalliga matches, which caught the attention of 1. FC Magdeburg.
In the summer of 2021, Ceka moved to the then-third-division club and quickly became a regular starter. In 36 games in the 3. Liga, he contributed to 18 goals (11 goals, 7 assists)—playing a key role in Magdeburg’s championship win and promotion to the 2. Bundesliga. Over the past three seasons and the current one, Jason Ceka has contributed a total of 17 assists and seven goals in his 61 second-division matches.
Now, it appears he will get more playing time and scoring opportunities again in Dresden.
