Rot-Weiss Essen could announce the arrival of player number three in the next few hours. A player from FC Schalke 04 is in RWE’s sights.
After Tom Moustier (Hannover 96 II) and Ramien Safi (SV Rödinghausen), Rot-Weiss Essen are still on the lookout for reinforcements. One player who has come into RWE’s sights, according to information from Forecasting, is Jimmy Kaparos.
According to RS-Infos, the 22-year-old was on site with his family at Hafenstraße on Friday, May 22, 2024, to clarify the details of a possible employment with Rot-Weiss Essen from July 1. It looks good that Kaparos could be the next RWE addition.
With him, coach Christoph Dabrowski would gain a central midfielder who can play in the six, but also in the eighth position and, if necessary, in central defense.
Born in the Netherlands, Kaparos has a good understanding of the game and is quick on his feet.
At Schalke, Kaparos was one of the key players in U23 coach Jakob Fimpel’s team in the last Regionalliga West season, making 30 appearances (four goals, three assists). In the 2nd Bundesliga, he made one eleven-minute appearance in the 2-0 defeat at Fürth on the final matchday.
“He’s an absolute top performer. He’s making great progress. He trains exclusively with the professionals. And then comes down for the games. It’s not easy to always have this rotation. But he’s so consistent, so strong on the ball and has also developed enormously in his play against the ball,” Fimpel told RS at the beginning of May.
Kaparos, who has played for Schalke since July 1, 2017, was loaned out to PEC Zwolle in the Netherlands for the 2022/2023 season. The 22-year-old made six appearances for the professionals and 14 appearances for the Zwolle reserves. A win-win situation.
According to Fimpel, everything worked out exactly as the club from Gelsenkirchen had imagined for the defensive midfielder. “He’s matured so much, he’s a completely different player to the one who left us back then. I’m excited to see where he goes. But he won’t be playing U23 anymore.”
Fimpel could receive his answer in just a few hours or days: After 85 matches in the Regionalliga West (five goals, three assists), Kaparos’ path will probably lead him to Rot-Weiss Essen in the 3rd division.
