ASC 09 Dortmund is facing the last match of the year. Vreden comes to the Waldstadion on Sunday (3 pm). Meanwhile, the sporting director is on the lookout for reinforcements.
15 games, 25 points: The ASC 09 Dortmund season is “in the green”, says Samir Habibovic. But that’s all.
According to the ASC sports director, the Dortmund team is already four or five points behind. “We had a weak phase at the beginning and middle of the season. We should have picked up more points then. But if we beat Vreden on Sunday, we can set our sights on the top five again. If we don’t manage a win at the end of the year, we will have to define other goals for the new year,” explains Habibovic.
He currently has a lot on his plate. The team from Dortmund-Aplerbeck started the season with 22 players, but as things stand, the coaching team only has 16 players plus three goalkeepers at its disposal.
Goalkeeper Jan Held ended his career during the season after a back injury. Tomislav Simic and Ibrahim Bulut (both cruciate ligament rupture) are no longer available for this series. Mike Schäfer is out for several weeks with a broken nose. And now, with Armen Maksutoski (Türkspor Dortmund) and Raphael Gräßer (destination unknown), two more players have left the club.
We have already had the first talks. I hope that we will also be able to announce a full deal.
Samir Habibovic, Sports Director of ASC Dortmund
“Our personnel situation is really not good. I assume that another player will leave us in the winter. That would leave us with 15 outfield players. We have to and will bring in new players in the winter. But that is anything but easy. I have never been a sports director who liked to make winter transfers. But now we are simply forced to do so,” Habibovic reports.
The ASC manager is desperately looking for a goalkeeper, a centre-back, a right-back and a six. Habibovic: “We have already had the first talks. I hope that we will be able to announce a deal. “
