FC Bayern München are on the verge of completing a new record transfer. All that is needed to make Harry Kane’s transfer perfect is the signature of the 30-year-old international striker. A mere formality?
After weeks of tug-of-war, FC Bayern Munich and English top club Tottenham Hotspur have agreed on a transfer of English international striker Harry Kane. This was reported by several German and British media. However, there are still details to be clarified and the final agreement of the 30-year-old goal scorer is still pending.
The transfer fee is estimated at 100 million euros. This would make Kane the most expensive transfer in Bundesliga history.
So far, former Munich defender Lucas Hernandez is the record holder at €80 million. The French international just switched to French champions Paris Saint-Germain for around 50 million euros after four years in Munich.
Number 9 – a Bavarian problem position
FC Bayern has had a problem at the centre forward position since Robert Lewandowski moved to FC Barcelona. The only “real” number 9 in the squad last season was Eric-Maxime Choupo-Moting, but he is often plagued by injuries.
Kane scored 30 goals in 38 Premier League games last season, bettered only by Erling Haaland (36 goals) of champions Manchester City. With a total of 213 goals, he is only behind Alan Shearer (260) in the eternal list of top Premier League scorers. In the English national team, the 30-year-old is already the record goal scorer.
