SV Ulm 1846 and Preußen Münster were not the only teams to make it through the 3rd division. Türkspor Dortmund also achieved the feat on Sunday in the Oberliga Westfalen.
Newcomer for the Regionalliga West. With a 4:2 (3:1) win against SG Wattenscheid, Türkspor Dortmund celebrated their first promotion to the Regionalliga in the Oberliga Westfalen. The Dortmund team thus completed their march from Westfalenliga 2 to league four.
The starting position was clear: one win and Türkspor would no longer be out of reach of promotion after the 33rd matchday. But first the Wattenscheid side proved to be party crashers.
Umut Yildiz gave SGW the lead. After a free-kick variation, Yildiz scored from around 20 meters to give the visitors the lead. However, Türkspor did not let this put them off their stride and turned the game around before the break.
Wattenscheid’s lead lasted just eight minutes before it was Koray Dag who quickly made it 1:1 for the home side. After a corner and a ricochet from Wattenscheid’s Frederik Wiebel, it was Dag who made it 1:1.
Justin Braun then scored a dream goal to make it 2:1 with a free-kick from around 30 meters into the corner – Türkspor were now unstoppable.
As a result, the score was 3:1 before the break. Dag put in a great solo run and then found Ilias Anan in the middle, who just had to slot it in.
Everything looked set for a long countdown to the party. But shortly after the changeover, Fynn Broos, who had just come on as a substitute, scored to make it 2:3 from Wattenscheid’s perspective – and suddenly it was exciting again.
Until the 80th minute. A few minutes earlier, Türkspor hit the post, but ten minutes before the end, Alessandro Tomasello redeemed his team with the 4:2.
