RWE II goal machine Emre Kilic – “Unfortunately I was too lazy”

Emre Kilic leads the scoring charts in the Kreisliga B in Essen. After 13 games, the Rot-Weiss Essen II striker has a whopping 34 goals to his name.

The second team of third division club Rot-Weiss Essen is going from victory to victory in the Kreisliga B. They have 13 games and 13 three-pointers to their name. Promotion to the A-Class is now just a formality.

The fact that the Essen team is doing so well is also thanks to Emre Kilic. The new signing from the summer of 2023 has scored 34 goals in his 13 appearances for RWE II so far. Before he continues his goal hunt in the Kreisliga B, RWE II goal machine Emre Kilic took part in the forecasting questionnaire.

And, he adds: “I hope that at the end of the season I will be ahead of my team-mate Dominik Milaszewski, who has 28 goals, and that we will of course be promoted. I don’t know yet whether I’ll stay with the club. It’s too early to say at this stage.”

Emre Kilic, how would you finish that sentence?

My greatest strength is… scoring goals!

My biggest weakness is… heading the ball.

In our dressing room… it’s very loud.

The best moment of my soccer career was… at VfR Bottrop-Ebel. Samet Kanoglu recently mentioned this in the Forecasting questionnaire. Back then, I contributed 52 goals to the promotion.

The best goal of my career … they were long-range shots from around 30 meters. Those things are great and I’m really happy when they hit the net. But I don’t have the best goal – with over 200 goals in senior soccer, there were just too many for that (laughs).

I didn’t become a professional footballer because… I was just too lazy.

The best thing about the Ruhr area is… the beautiful air (laughs).

Either, right?

Dortmund or Schalke? Schalke.

Beer or water? Beer.

Club or pub? Pub.

Natural or artificial turf? Artificial turf

Fighter or artist? Fighter.

Soccer on TV or stadium? Stadium.

Finally, a few more questions:

Who would you like to have a beer with?

Michael Ballack, because he’s a great guy. He had that certain steadfastness. He was a real leader – no matter which club he played for.

What can you laugh about?

About other people’s failings. You could also say that I’m gloating (laughs). I’ll stand by that too.

What is indispensable for you?

Beer after the game. In life, of course, my family.

What music do you like to listen to and what is playing in the dressing room?

I like listening to German rap, but in the dressing room it’s almost exclusively pop.

If you could start again, what would you do differently in your life?

I should have invested more in soccer from an early age
