American ski racer Mikaela Shiffrin has claimed the 83rd victory of her career, making her the most successful woman in the history of the Ski World Cup. With this victory, Shiffrin makes skiing history, overtaking her compatriot Lindsey Vonn, who had to retire from skiing four years ago due to injury.

The 27-year-old won the giant slalom in Kronplatz, Italy, with a lead of 0.45 seconds after the second run. In the overall World Cup ranking, the two-time Olympic champion is currently leading ahead of Lara Gut-Behrami and Petra Vlhova in second and third place.
Shiffrin now only needs three more victories to draw level with Ingemar Stenmark, who leads the world rankings with 86 wins.
