MSV Duisburg is still looking for two offensive players. The first addition has been found.
After the departure of Julian Hettwer to BVB II, it was clear that MSV Duisburg still needed to sign two offensive players for the season in the 3rd division.
The first addition has now arrived. As the fifth new player, MSV brought in Robin Müller, who signed for two years, there is also an option for a third season.
The 23-year-old played in 29 Regionalliga matches for FC St. Pauli’s U23 last season, scoring ten goals.
Müller, who also scored a goal in a 4:1 win over Eimsbütteler TV on Matchday 2 last weekend in his farewell game, had moved to the Hanseatic League from Babelsberg 03 a year earlier. He has a total of 76 Regionalliga appearances to his name.
Ralf Heskamp, MSV’s managing director of sport, emphasises: “Robin has proven his abilities in the Regionalliga and we are convinced that he can also show them in the 3rd League and continue to develop. But of course we will also give him the time to acclimatise in what is a new environment for him – just like, for example, a Niklas Kölle, who came from the fourth division a year ago and has long since proved to be a reinforcement for the Spielverein.”
The player himself can hardly wait to finally get started: “It has always been my dream to become a professional footballer, and the fact that I can now fulfil it here at a club with such a tradition makes me proud. I’m really keen on MSV and I’m looking forward to getting to know the club, the team and the fans.”
MSV will not play a competitive match this weekend, but will play a test (Friday, 11 August, 7 p.m.) at regional league team SSVg Velbert. Time for Müller to present himself for the first time.
His coach Torsten Ziegner explains: “We are really happy that we have found a talented and ambitious player in Robin, who is totally keen on MSV, who has extreme qualities in his offensive play, with speed and assertiveness. He has great potential to develop well with us and we hope he will quickly arrive at the playing club and be able to help us further quickly.”
