Tour de France: Groenewegen wins third Tour stage

Dutch rider Dylan Groenewegen has secured victory in the third stage of the Tour de France over 182 kilometres from Vejle to Sonderborg in Denmark. The decision was made in a bunch sprint.

In second place – beaten by a razor-thin margin – was the Belgian Wout van Aert, who defended the yellow jersey of the overall leader. Third place went to Jasper Philipsen.

Previous day’s winner Fabio Jacobsen had lost the connection to the top places in the last bend.

The rider of the Dutch Jumbo Visma team is now seven seconds ahead of Yves Lampaert, two-time defending champion Tadej Pogacarist third, 14 seconds behind Van Aert.

The first rest day is scheduled for Monday, the Tour continues on Tuesday in northern France with the stage between Dunkirk and Calais.
