Following the signing of Julian Kania, VfL Osnabrück has now also parted ways with a forward. Exactly one year ago, this player was still highly sought after.
It was January 4, 2025, when Forecasting ran the following headline on its website: “VfL Osnabrück secures Germany’s top Regionalliga scorer.” The player in question is Nikky Goguadze.
At the time, the Dutchman had scored 18 goals in 19 games for Bremer SV during the 2024–2025 Regionalliga Nord season. That was the best tally in the Regionalliga across Germany. Several third-division clubs vied for the striker, but VfL Osnabrück came out on top.
One year later, Goguadze is already a thing of the past at the Bremer Brücke. He was unable to establish himself in the 3. Liga. In the end, the forward looks back on eight competitive appearances (two goals) with VfL Osnabrück. He is now heading back to the 4th division.
FC St. Pauli II, a team in the Northern Regional League, announced Goguadze as a new signing. He still had a contract with Osnabrück through June 30, 2027. Both clubs agreed not to disclose the transfer terms.
In previous years, Goguadze played several seasons for Bremer SV in the Regional League; he also gained further experience in the league with TSV Havelse and SSV Jeddeloh II. In a total of 90 Regional League games, he scored 43 goals and recorded six assists.
Carsten Rothenbach, sporting director of FC St. Pauli’s U23 team, explains: “We’re very happy that we were able to sign Nikky. He knows what it takes to succeed in the league and has consistently demonstrated his scoring ability over a long period of time. That’s why we expect him to serve as a role model for our younger players and help us regain our offensive firepower.”
“I’m looking forward to this new challenge at FC St. Pauli. Even though the team is very young and currently facing a difficult situation, I’m confident in the quality of my new teammates. I hope that I can use my skills to contribute to a successful second half of the season and that together we can avoid relegation,” adds Goguadze.
