Twelve behind, hardly anything gained – Schalke with league low

When FC Schalke 04 is trailing in Bundesliga 2, there is usually nothing to be gained. This is underpinned by statistics in a league-wide comparison.

FC Schalke 04 have been behind a total of twelve times in the current second division season. Only once have the Royal Blues managed to turn a deficit into something countable. With the three points they have picked up, they are bottom of the league. No team has scored fewer points after falling behind than S04.

The last and only time Schalke were able to celebrate after falling behind was in September 2023. That was on matchday 6, when 1. FC Magdeburg visited Royal Blue. Derry Murkin and Sebastian Polter had initially equalized a 2-0 deficit before the visitors took the lead again after just over an hour.

Thomas Ouwejan (69′) and Polter (79′) struck back again to secure Schalke a 4:3 home win. Schalke and Magdeburg are now neighbors in the table and will meet again on Saturday, February 24 at 8:30 pm.

On the other hand, their neighbors in the “points from behind” table are Hertha BSC, Hannover 96 and Karlsruher SC. The trio have already picked up four points after falling behind.

Bundesliga 2: Morale kings Düsseldorf and Braunschweig

Fortuna Düsseldorf and Eintracht Braunschweig are at the top of the table, having managed to pick up eleven points after falling behind. On the last matchday, however, blue and yellow lacked this strength. Braunschweig hosted Schalke and fell 1-0 behind thanks to a goal from Kenan Karaman (61′).

Braunschweig then failed to create any compelling chances, allowing Royal Blue to secure an enormously important three points. Braunschweig go into matchday 21 in seventeenth place in the table, three points behind Schalke. Königsblau are in fourteenth place, with 23 points to their name

On Sunday, February 11, 1:30 p.m., three more are to be added in Kiel. The Storks are third in the table, but are on a downward trend. They have not won in three matches.

For example, Eintracht Braunschweig won in Kiel on matchday 18 – after trailing 0:1.
