Monaco in the rain – sunshine for Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen: He started from first place in the Principality – and that’s exactly where his race on the famous street circuit ended.
The Red Bull driver crossed the finish line at the Monaco Grand Prix 28 seconds ahead of Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso, who took his fifth podium in the last six races. Frenchman Esteban Ocon surprisingly secured third place.
Verstappen’s success gives him his fourth win of the season and 39th overall for the team. He extended his championship lead to 39 points over teammate Sergio Perez on Sunday.
Red Bull have won every race so far and unsurprisingly lead the manufacturers’ standings with 249 points.
