VfL Bochum has announced an addition for the upcoming season. It is a player from Borussia Dortmund.
In the squad planning for the coming season, VfL Bochum has made some progress. This Thursday, the Revierklub announced the second new addition for the 2023/24 season, Felix Passlack, who will move to Castroper Straße from Borussia Dortmund.
The 24-year-old defensive player’s contract at BVB expires in the summer, so he will join VfL on a free transfer, where he has signed a contract until 2025.
“We are delighted to have signed Felix Passlack, a child of the Ruhr region,” Bochum’s technical director Marc Lettau is quoted as saying about the signing of the native of Bottrop. “Felix has already played in the Bundesliga, Champions League and Europa League in his younger years, as well as gaining experience abroad. We are convinced that he will further increase our flexibility and quality on the flank with his skills.”
Passlack came through all of Dortmund’s youth teams and signed his first professional contract with BVB in 2016. He made a total of 54 competitive appearances for the Revierklub. However, the winner of the prestigious Fritz Walter Medal in 2015 did not make the breakthrough to a regular player. He has been loaned out several times: to TSG Hoffenheim, Norwich City and most recently to Fortuna Sittard in the 2019/20 season. This season, Passlack played five games for BVB.
With VfL, I want to get more playing time than I have had recently – preferably in the Bundesliga.

“I’m happy that it worked out with VfL,” Passlack said in a club statement. “The people in charge in Bochum have made a lot of effort for me, showed me the sporting perspective. That’s why I decided early on to join VfL.”
It was nice “that I can stay in the district,” the full-back continued. “At VfL, I want to get more playing time than was recently the case – preferably in the Bundesliga.”
Bochum had previously signed center back Noah Loosli (Grasshoppers Zurich), also on a free transfer.
