Lots of news from TSV 1860 Munich. The 2-1 win at FC Ingolstadt has had several repercussions.

After 101 minutes, TSV 1860 Munich secured its fourth straight win: Sigurd Haugen and Patrick Hobsch turned the game around at FC Ingolstadt after Dennis Kaygin had briefly put Ingolstadt ahead.

Sixty jumped to seventh place and is now just three points away from a direct promotion spot, after MSV Duisburg could not get past a 0–0 draw against Aue and Verl also played to a 0–0 draw against Rot-Weiss Essen.

However, there was still some bad news on the injury front. Haugen sustained injuries in a collision with Ingolstadt’s goalkeeper Kai Eisele that required surgery. The player who scored the goal to tie the game at 1–1 has already undergone the procedure but will be out for several weeks. The club announced this following the match.

Kevin Volland was also sidelined. The veteran received a yellow-red card against FCI and had to leave the field injured. He can cope with a one-game suspension, as his injury is scheduled to be treated over the holidays and into the new year anyway.

“We wish both players a speedy recovery. We’re glad that we’ve been spared a longer injury layoff for Kevin Volland,” said Löwen Managing Director Manfred Paula. “Sigurd Haugen’s absence hurts us a lot; we’re keeping our fingers crossed that he can be back on the training field as soon as possible.”

What this means for the big match against Rot-Weiss Essen to kick off the second half of the season on Saturday, January 17, at 2 p.m., remains to be seen.

On the way back from Ingolstadt, there was also fan unrest on the train. “TSV 1860 supporters defaced the passenger area with graffiti and stickers.” Late Saturday afternoon, unknown individuals defaced the passenger compartment of the RB 16 regional train on the route between Ingolstadt Central Station and Munich Central Station. The perpetrators used water-insoluble paint to deface, among other things, train walls, seating, windows, and mirrors, and affixed numerous stickers,” the Federal Police reported.

The statement continued: “The defaced area covers approximately 60 square meters. The property damage determined so far is in the low four-digit range. In addition, DB Regio AG has filed a criminal complaint regarding another case of vandalism. On the outbound trip to Ingolstadt, similar damage was discovered on a train, causing approximately 500 euros in damage.”

And then the draw for the Bavarian Cup semifinals took place. At the end of March, TSV will face league rival SSV Jahn Regensburg.
