“We want to win every game” – home game at Wuppertaler SV?

MSV Duisburg has a home game at Wuppertaler SV due to the strong support of its fans. The coach is confident.

Nine games without a defeat, top of the table and their best performance of the season: MSV Duisburg is unbeatable in the regional league! So they can’t be beaten by the faltering Wuppertal SV either, right?

It’s not quite that simple. “We are currently on a very positive run,” said Dietmar Hirsch at the press conference before the game on Sunday (2 p.m.), adding: “Nevertheless, we have trained very focused and professionally and prepared ourselves specifically for the next task. In Wuppertal, we naturally want to build on this and get our next win.” Because: “We want to win every game.”

Before the away game against Wuppertaler SV, the preparation was complicated by a change of coach. Sebastian Tyrala has replaced René Klingbeil on the sidelines. The consequence for the negative run of only one point from six games, which ultimately led to the fourth-last place in the table.

“For us, it makes the assessment more difficult, of course, especially since not only is there a new coach, but also important players will be missing due to a yellow suspension,” said Hirsch. The WSV is therefore ‘difficult to assess’. But: ‘The playing staff has not changed due to the change of coach.’

The strong support of the MSV fans is also unchanged. 4,100 Duisburg fans have managed to get hold of tickets in advance – that’s more than the Wuppertal SV’s peak attendance this season (3,300 against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen). An additional box office will open on Sunday. The zebra supporters should also be in the majority in the stadium at the zoo. “That’s just awesome,” commented the coach.

Hirsch will have to do without Jannik Zahmel (rehab), Jihad Boutakhrit (first training session on the pitch) and Leon Müller (back in reduced training after the Wuppertal game) against WSV. Franko Uzelac completed ‘his first relaxed session on the pitch’ (Hirsch) on Friday afternoon.
