Bitter news for Türkspor Dortmund: The runners-up in the Westfalenliga II, who are in the top flight as promoted teams, will have to do without their top scorer until further notice.
Mateus Ayala Cardoniz had to leave the country – back to his home country Brazil. The club confirmed this to the “Ruhr Nachrichten”.
The 27-year-old’s visa has expired. Ayala Cardoniz had joined Türkspor shortly after the start of the season and only had a tourist status. The 90 days he was allowed to stay in the country have now expired.
Now the striker has to wait three months before he is allowed to enter the country again. This means he will certainly miss the last two games of the year against FC Iserlohn (Sunday, 27 November) and Wacker Obercastrop (Sunday, 4 December) as well as probably the first game in 2023 at SC Neheim (12 February).
Türkspor’s plan: “We want to try to find Mateus a job when he comes back in three months. We are aiming for him to get a work visa, then he will be allowed to stay in the country longer,” sporting director Mesut Aksoy told Ruhr Nachrichten.
This would be important for Dortmund. Because Ayala Cardoniz could play a decisive role in the promotion race. With his eleven goals in twelve appearances, he is not only the best club marksman, but also the most successful attacker in the entire league.
Thanks in part to him, coach Orhan Özkara’s team is in second place. Front runner FC Brünninghausen is three points away, followed by RSV Meinerzhagen one point behind Türkspor. The rest of the league is lagging behind. The result is a three-way battle for the only promotion spot to the top division.
It is explosive: Türkspor will play the direct duels with its two rivals on 26 February (Brünninghausen) and 5 March (Meinerzhagen) within one week. One thing should be clear: Those responsible will do everything they can to have Ayala Cardoniz back in the team by the time of the top games.
