Schalke talent Keke Topp is on an international trip with the German U19 national team. There, he showed his usual ability to score.
FC Schalke 04 junior striker Keke Topp has extended his successful goal tally for the German U19 national team.
The 18-year-old scored shortly before the end of the 7-0 victory of the German national team against Malta, when Topp had been substituted only a few minutes before. For the attacker, who plays for the Schalker A Juniors, it was already the sixth goal in his seventh international appearance.
Things are going even better for him at the club: In the U19 Bundesliga West, Topp has ten goals after ten games. He is tied with BVB’s Julian Rijkhoff at the top of the goalscoring list. Almost a year ago, Topp made his first and so far only appearance for the Schalke professionals (substitute in the 1:2 against St. Pauli in the 2nd League).
For the German U19s, the 7-0 win was their second in a tournament in Malta. Earlier, coach Guido Streichsbier’s team had won 3-0 against Poland. Topp was on the pitch from the start.
In addition, Joshua Quarshie was part of the starting eleven in both matches. The 18-year-old defensive player was trained at Rot-Weiss Essen and moved to TSG Hoffenheim in the summer, where he made his Bundesliga debut before the World Cup break.
Germany will face Portugal’s U19s at the end of the tournament. The match will be played early on Tuesday evening (6 pm). After that, Topp has the end of the year with Schalke on the agenda: In the last match before the two-and-a-half-month winter break, the Königsblauen will host SC Paderborn (4 December, 11 a.m.).
