The regional leagues in Germany have started and the first strikers are attracting attention. One in particular is leading the way nationwide.
The Regionalliga West would certainly not want to be saddled with a striker problem. Noah Pesch’s nine goals in eleven games for Borussia Mönchengladbach II are simply too good for that. This puts the forward top of the league’s scoring charts.
He is followed by Moritz Stoppelkamp (Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, seven goals) and Enzo Wirtz (Eintracht Hohkeppel, seven goals). The best individual performer plays elsewhere. With 14 goals in 15 games, Nikky Goguadze keeps Bremer SV afloat in the Regionalliga Nord.
“We play brave attacking football. Unfortunately, in the games so far, we have repeatedly lacked the cleverness against the ball and also the necessary luck,” he told kicker. Goguadze scored twice last time out, but was unable to prevent the 2-3 defeat to Werder Bremen II.
Bremer SV are bottom of the table in the North Regional League. Where would the Hanseatic city team be without Goguadze? It’s hard to say. “Patience, unity and believing in your own strengths. At some point, it will pay off and luck will be on our side again,” said the striker.
His strengths? “I thrive on duels and come from my robustness. That’s why I also like to work backwards.” Besides, he is “not a thinking person and doesn’t think that far ahead.” Next match day, Bremen will once again be dependent on their top scorer. They face SV Todesfelde, which is three points and one place better. This is a great opportunity for Bremer SV to leave 17th place with a win.
