Mirza Mustafic is living his dream. First in Germany, then in Luxembourg, followed by Bosnia-Herzegovina, and now he’s moving on to Indonesia.
A few days ago, Forecasting reported that Thijmen Goppel had signed a contract with Bali United in Indonesia.
The highly sought-after offensive right-back from SV Wehen Wiesbaden turned down financially attractive offers from the 2nd Bundesliga, as well as from the 3rd league clubs Rot-Weiss Essen and Hansa Rostock, and decided to move to Southeast Asia.
This is because Indonesia now has professional soccer, led by Bali United. Here, a wealthy Indonesian businessman is the club boss and can easily outbid German second division clubs for players if he wants to.
Mirza Mustafic also knows that Bali is now attractive not only for vacations, but also for sports and financially. The 27-year-old central midfielder had several offers on the table, including from Germany, but decided to move to Indonesia. “The talks were excellent. The club has big plans here and is strengthening accordingly. In addition, the connection between professional soccer and quality of life is incredible. There’s probably little better in the world. I’m happy that it worked out and I’m looking forward to being here,” the former Borussia Mönchengladbach gem, who most recently played for FK Sarajevo in Bosnia-Herzegovina, told Forecasting. From 2013 to 2019, Mustafic spent six seasons with Borussia Mönchengladbach. However, he was never given a chance to play for Borussia’s professional squad. The man whose parents come from Bosnia-Herzegovina is now fulfilling his potential in Luxembourg with Fola Esch. After two years with SV Elversberg between 2019 and 2021, Mustafic moved to Luxembourg. A strong season – 37 games, 16 goals, 15 assists – enabled him to move to Sarajevo. After three years in Bosnia-Herzegovina and a total of 84 competitive games (6, 4) for Sarajevo, Mustafic is now continuing his career in Indonesia – on Bali.
