After scoring 17 points – former BVB gem promoted to the first division

This transfer has paid off: Hüseyin Bulut moved to Turkey in the summer of 2024 and had an outstanding season. Now he has been promoted.

Hüseyin Bulut, then 25, moved to Turkey in the summer of 2024 to join third-division club Altinordu FK.

He signed a contract there until June 30, 2027. “They really wanted me and came to Germany twice to see me play. I know a few players there and, of course, I did my research. It’s a very reputable and professional club with high standards in terms of infrastructure. I’m looking forward to the new challenge,” Bulut told Forecasting. And he delivered at Altinordu. Thirty-two games, 14 goals, three assists in league play and two goals in four playoff games for promotion, which Altinordu ultimately missed out on: a strong record for Bulut in 2024/2025.

The reward followed promptly: the now 26-year-old offensive player moved to Ankara Keciörengücü, an ambitious first division club. The Turkish First Division is the second highest league behind the Süper Lig. Bulut’s former club Altinordu now plays in the Second Division.

I haven’t given up on my dream of playing in the Süper Lig and I want to prove that I can do it again after my contract at Göztepe. Ankara is the first step in that direction. (…) I want to fight my way into the team patiently and not put the same pressure on myself as I did at Göztepe.

“For me, this is a personal step up. I had a good time at Altinordu and enjoyed being able to focus solely on soccer in top conditions. Now it’s time for the next step, and that’s Ankara. I want to pick up where I left off at Altinordu,” says Bulut.

The former Borussia Dortmund gem, who once signed a five-year contract with Göztepe Izmir after his U19 spell at BVB but returned to Germany after just one season, adds: “I also had some really lucrative offers from a few of Altinordu’s rivals, but I turned them down. I haven’t given up on my dream of playing in the Süper Lig and want to prove that I can do it again after my contract at Göztepe. Ankara is the first step in that direction. It’s a great club, where I’ve signed a three-year contract until the summer of 2028. I want to patiently fight my way into the team and not put the same pressure on myself as I did at Göztepe.”

Sportfreunde Lotte, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, Rot Weiss Ahlen, and Wuppertaler SV: these were Bulut’s last stops in Germany. In total, the former BVB talent can look back on 102 games in the Regionalliga. His tally: 16 goals and 14 assists. Now he can add some decent numbers in Turkey – first at Altinordu and soon perhaps at Ankara Keciörengücü.
