Appointment to the “DFB 3rd League Committee” – A great honor for RWE boss

A few hours before Rot-Weiss Essen’s third division match at FC Ingolstadt, the RWE management received some good news from Frankfurt.

Marc-Nicolai Pfeifer, CEO of Rot-Weiss Essen, has been reappointed to the DFB 3rd League Committee and the DFB 3rd League Expert Group. The confirmation was made by the newly elected DFB Executive Committee at the DFB Congress in Frankfurt today, Friday.

As an independent body, the 3rd League Committee represents the interests of the 3rd League both within the German Football Association (DFB) and externally. It also has the right to submit motions to the DFB Bundestag, the DFB Presidium, and the DFB Executive Board. Its core task is the systematic development of the league.

“My reappointment to the 3rd League Committee and the 3rd League Expert Group is a great sign of trust from my colleagues, for which I am very grateful,” says Marc-Nicolai Pfeifer. “I would like to continue to champion the views of the traditional clubs with full conviction, promoting solidarity and encouraging the exchange of ideas, and contributing my diverse experience from previous years – including my work for Stuttgart Kickers and TSV 1860 Munich.”

For Rot-Weiss Essen, Pfeifer’s confirmation also means a strengthening of the club’s voice at the national level.

On Saturday, Rot-Weiss Essen will face FC Ingolstadt in an away game. Following his appointment to the “DFB 3rd League Committee,” Pfeifer would probably be no less delighted if his Rot-Weiss Essen team were to follow up with an away win at FCI.

Coach Uwe Koschinat knows that this will not be an easy task: “We are facing an Ingolstadt team that is back on track despite their defeat against Cologne. We must not ignore the fact that they are only six points behind us. They have a squad that is divided into three parts. They have many experienced players who lead the group. In addition, they have many talented players of their own whom they have developed. And on top of that, they have discovered a market for themselves in Scandinavia, which makes the club very interesting in terms of its external perception. They have found players who were not so well known here but have become top performers in the league.”
