Dynamo Dresden needs to do something this winter. It’s not just the league table that makes this necessary. And lo and behold: two men are said to be lined up.
At the beginning of November, Thomas Brendel had to step down as managing director of Dynamo Dresden. After a good six weeks, a successor is now in the starting blocks.
According to “Bild,” that person is Sören Gonther. The former professional is currently still working at Hessen Kassel, where he has already prevented relegation once before. So that’s exactly what his job in Dresden will entail.
And it’s not just sporting director Gonther who is set to join the club. The newspaper also reports that Jason Ceka is set to join the club on loan. The Essen-born player is currently under contract with league rivals SV Elversberg.
However, the right winger has hardly played there since his summer transfer from Magdeburg in 2025. Seven games, 65 minutes – that’s not what Ceka is looking for. A loan until the end of the season, but without an option to buy, as suggested by “Bild,” seems sensible.

Ceka would bring the experience of 51 second division appearances to Dynamo Dresden. After spending his early youth at VfB Frohnhausen, the offensive player was trained at Rot-Weiss Essen and FC Schalke 04 from 2005 onwards.
In Gelsenkirchen, he gained his first experience in men’s football with appearances for the second team. In the 2020/2021 season, he impressed with 15 goal contributions (twelve goals, three assists) in 25 regional league games, which caught the attention of 1. FC Magdeburg.
In the summer of 2021, Ceka moved to the then third-division club and quickly became a regular. In 36 games in the 3. Liga, he contributed to 18 goals (eleven goals, seven assists) – and thus played a key role in Magdeburg’s championship and promotion to the 2. Bundesliga. In the past three seasons and the current season, Jason Ceka has contributed a total of 17 assists and seven goals in his 61 second division games. Now, it seems that he will get more playing time and score more goals in Dresden.
