Alemannia Aachen is spending the winter break in a relegation spot in the 3rd division. The fans were extremely angry after the 1-1 draw in Havelse.
Between the twelfth and 14th match days, Alemannia Aachen celebrated three wins in a row in the 3rd division. It seemed as if the team had finally arrived in the season.
However, just five match days later, the mood in Aachen is already back in the doldrums. Due to the disappointing 1-1 draw at second-to-last TSV Havelse, coach Mersad Selimbegovic’s team has gone five games without a win.
The result: Aachen is spending the winter break in a relegation spot, and the fans are frustrated. Of the 2,400 spectators in Havelse, around 1,500 supported the traditional club, but gave vent to their frustration after the draw. Some fans tried to get onto the pitch, while others chanted loudly: “We’ve had enough!”
A peaceful Christmas? That’s unlikely at Alemannia. A comprehensive analysis seems urgently needed to get to the bottom of the crisis. In view of the fans’ reactions, both the players and the coach showed understanding after the game.
The fans have every right to be angry.
But it only works if we stick together. If we lose that cohesion, it will be very, very difficult because we still have a few more hurdles to overcome. That’s why it’s important to speak up and seek dialogue. Lars Gindorf Top scorer Lars Gindorf admitted: “The fans have every right to be angry.
But it will only work if we stick together. If we lose that cohesion, it will be very, very difficult because we still have a few more hurdles to overcome. That’s why it’s important to speak up and seek dialogue. Everything’s okay.“Coach Mersad Selimbegovic also expressed understanding: ”It’s human and normal for them to be angry.” At the same time, the coach himself was annoyed – both about his team’s performance and about some questionable decisions by the referees. One scene before the 0-1 from Aachen’s point of view caused particular displeasure: Selimbegovic criticized a clear offside position that was not penalized. However, TV images were unable to resolve the situation conclusively.
“It’s the same story week after week. I’m tired of the referees repeatedly making mistakes at Alemannia Aachen’s expense,” said the annoyed coach on MagentaSport. Alemannia has a home game against VfL Osnabrück coming up right after the winter break – until then, there is a lot to work on in Aachen.
