Keleb Nwubani’s time at VfL Bochum II had come to an end. He has now found a new club in the Oberliga Westfalen.
Shortly before Christmas, VfL Bochum II reduced its squad. The club announced that Stevan Tasic, Ben Heuser, Keleb Nwubani, and Jan-Nzeba Bost would be leaving. The club terminated the contracts of center back Tasic, left winger Heuser, and center back Nwubani. Nzeba-Bost, on the other hand, has found a new club on loan. He will be playing for Oberliga club Rot Weiss Ahlen in Westphalia until next summer. Forecasting has already reported on this. And lo and behold: he will be welcoming a familiar face from Bochum, as Nwubani is also moving to Ahlen. The 22-year-old has signed a contract until June 30, 2026, and is expected to gain playing experience and strengthen the defense in the coming months.
“Keleb brings physical presence and a good basic understanding of the center-back position. He has already played for various clubs at a young age and knows what it takes to prove himself every day. We see him as a useful addition to our squad, giving us options in the short term while also offering potential for development,” said Luka Tankulic, sporting director at Rot Weiss Ahlen.

Nwubani is an Irish citizen, measures 1.92 meters and, despite his young age, already has experience in higher-level youth and senior football. The center back was most recently under contract with VfL Bochum II, having previously played for Preußen Münster II and TuS Erndtebrück, among others. He began his soccer training in England before venturing to Germany. With this signing, Rot Weiss Ahlen is deliberately focusing on a defensive player with potential for development who will provide additional options in central defense in the current situation.
“I am very much looking forward to my time at Rot Weiss Ahlen. The talks were open and honest, and I know that I will have the opportunity here to develop further and help the team. I want to work hard in training and on the pitch and do my part,” he said.
