FC Hansa Rostock has sold Ryan Naderi to Glasgow Rangers, smashing the previous transfer record for the third division. But that’s not all. Hansa Rostock received an incredible €5.5 million for its top striker Ryan Naderi from Glasgow Rangers. It was an offer that Hansa Rostock, despite its own ambitions for promotion, could not refuse. Ronald Maul, CEO of FCH, explained: “The offer from Rangers Football Club reached a level that a third division club cannot refuse. Despite the economic significance, our considerations always focused on the player. Ryan Naderi is young, talented, and has a great career ahead of him. He wants to seize the opportunity to play internationally and prove himself on the big stage at a club like Rangers Football Club. We couldn’t and didn’t want to deny him this dream. We are aware of his talent and qualities, but we have complete confidence in our squad.” Naderi has scored eight goals and provided five assists for Rostock in 18 third division games. These are scorers that the Kogge will miss in their battle for promotion.
At least Rostock will keep the money. With the €5.5 million, they have eclipsed the €4 million that Borussia Dortmund II received from Red Bull Salzburg for Hendry Blank in the 2023/24 season.

The ten most expensive departures from the 3rd division
1. Ryan Naderi (2025/26 season), from Hansa Rostock to Glasgow Rangers, €5.5 million

3. Yannick Engelhardt (2023/24 season), from SC Freiburg II to Fortuna Düsseldorf, €3.8 million
4. Georg Niedermeier (2010/11 season), from Bayern Munich II to VfB Stuttgart, €3.5 million
5. Merlin Röhl (2022/23 season), from FC Ingolstadt to SC Freiburg, €2.9 million
6. Noah Darvich (2023/24 season), from SC Freiburg II to Barca Atletic, €2.5 million

10. Woo-yeong Jeong (2019/20 season), from Bayern Munich II to SC Freiburg, €2 million
In addition, the Kogge also broke its own club transfer record. In the 2001/02 season, striker Victor Agali moved to FC Schalke 04 for €5.1 million. A sum that Rostock has never come close to matching. Until now.
