Erzgebirge Aue is teetering on the brink of relegation in the 3rd division. New coach Christoph Dabrowski is tasked with preventing this – and he’s starting with a key game.
Christoph Dabrowski is the name of the coach who is supposed to save Erzgebirge Aue from relegation from the 3rd division. “I’m delighted to be in Aue and to be working for this proud, traditional club. I really like the stadium. I never liked going to Aue as an opponent. It was always unpleasant to play here. We should bring this attitude onto the pitch. Then I’m optimistic that we can achieve a turnaround,” he said, giving an insight into his work so far.
“They were intense, long days. I got my first impressions through one-on-one conversations. But of course, we were also on the pitch. The team showed a willingness to implement things. The atmosphere was energetic and the work was such that the guys were very hard-working. Accordingly, we are heading into the game with a good feeling.
Aue will need that feeling, because on Saturday, February 7, at 2 p.m., 1. FC Saarbrücken will be coming to the Schacht. 17th place against 16th place, the crisis clubs in a direct duel, Erzgebirge Aue against 1. FC Saarbrücken.
“They started the season with high ambitions and, I believe, have the highest league budget. Saarbrücken has a lot of individual quality in its ranks, but you can see that they are having problems. They have gone a long time without a win. They are certainly unsettled, and we want to take advantage of that,” said Dabrowski.
He has prepared his team accordingly. “In the first training session on Tuesday, we did a lot of small-sided games. That was a main training day. On Wednesday and Thursday, we worked on tactics. We looked at playing with and against the ball and have a few ideas that we want to implement in the game. I’m very happy with how the lads have worked so far.”
Dabrowski knows the third division basement and knows what matters. “A season in the third division has 38 games. We need to be patient, stay positive, and be able to cope with setbacks. We need unity and, above all, a community that believes we can do it together. I’ve managed that well with my teams so far,” he said. In Aue, they will be praying that he will soon be able to say the same about the Schachter.
