Taylan Bulut has yet to make an impact at Besiktas Istanbul. Now, his father is reported to have called for a move back to Germany. Besiktas denies the rumors.
Since his move from FC Schalke 04 to Turkey, 19-year-old Taylan Bulut has spent most of his time on the bench.
He hasn’t played at all in the past two months under coach Sergen Yalcin. Bulut made his first—and so far only—start in October. On top of that, there was a brief appearance right after he was signed from S04. Against Eyüpspor, he came on as a substitute for five minutes and was effectively introduced to the home crowd. Out of a possible 15 Süper Lig matches, Bulut has thus taken the field only twice.
That’s not enough to meet the expectations of the right back, who was lured away from Gelsenkirchen for six million euros before the start of the season. That’s why rumors have been circulating in recent days throughout the colorful Turkish sports press that Bulut already wants to return to Germany. His father is said to be pushing for the move. Beşiktaş Istanbul has responded to this with an unusually candid statement: “The reports circulating in print, visual, and social media—claiming that the father of our professional soccer player Taylan Bulut spoke by phone with our president, Serdal Adalı, and stated that our player is unhappy and wants to return to Germany—are completely baseless,” Beşiktaş wrote in a statement. “We strongly urge our fans not to give credence to such rumors spread behind closed doors ahead of the transfer window.”
The U-17 European champion will therefore continue to sit behind veteran Sazdagi and wait for his chance. On Friday, the club announced that it was parting ways with three players. Bulut was not among them.
