A major success for René Lewejohann. The coach of Rot Weiss Ahlen has earned the second-highest coaching certification in European soccer.

René Lewejohann continues to advance his coaching career. In the short term, he’s with Rot Weiss Ahlen, where he has taken over the head coaching role from Luka Tankulic. In the long term, however, “Lewe” has proven himself ready for greater challenges.

The 41-year-old has earned the UEFA A License, the second-highest coaching qualification in European soccer. On Tuesday, November 18, Lewejohann received his official certificate at the DFB Academy in Frankfurt, thus completing an intensive, nearly ten-month training process.

“I’m very relieved and, at the same time, incredibly proud. The A License is the reward for many months of hard work, during which I delved deeply into modern playing principles, leadership styles, and training methods. The course has helped me grow both personally and professionally—and I’m looking forward to incorporating this knowledge even more into my work at Rot Weiss Ahlen,” said the Ahlen head coach.

During the course, the RWA coach presented, among other things, his own vision for the game and used video clips to showcase his coaching style. His ongoing work has further sharpened his perspective and refined his approach. With the UEFA A license, Lewejohann is authorized to coach teams up to the 3rd League and now belongs to the group of coaches with the highest qualifications below the Pro license.

Key components of the course included topics such as game structure, training management, philosophy development, leadership skills, and tactical analysis.

Lewejohann will have the opportunity to put these skills into practice as early as Wednesday, November 19. That evening at 7:30 p.m., the team from Ahlen will play a friendly match against YEG Hassel, a Landesliga club from Gelsenkirchen.

In the Oberliga Westfalen, Rot Weiss Ahlen is in second-to-last place with nine points. After 14 games, the historic club is in acute danger of relegation.
